New Enhancements : Multiple Ad Networks, Time Zones and Site Analytics
We've got some good news. We've spruced up the system with some great new features that will put a smile on all our patient users' faces.

Due to popular demand, we've enhanced your favorite ad manager to allow you

	1. Manage multiple ad networks

The new "Ad Feed" feature allows you to setup multiple ad network tags.

Whenever there are no self-service or directly sold ads, the system will automatically show an ad from one of your ad networks. You can even set weights (priorities) for each ad network.

It is a great way to monetize your site from multiple sources. It's simple and it works.

	2. Set your own time zone

You can now configure the system so that all campaigns start at 12 midnight in your time zone. It was previously fixed to GMT but now, you are to free to set it to any time zone.

	3. Track user activity in the ad store

You can now add your own site analytics code (e.g. Google Analytics) to track user interaction with the ad store.

This will give you a better insight to where advertisers are coming from, what they do in the store, and help you improve their experience.

We are loving the new features. Special thanks to Hugh (Compare.ie), Andre (The Sound Alliance), and Aaron (Design*Sponge) for keeping us on our toes.

	Keep the feedback coming guys.

New Feature: Conversion and ROI Tracking for Advertisers
This is just a quick news flash to let everyone know that we've finally added support for conversion tracking into your favorite ad platform.

	What is Conversion Tracking?

It is just a way for advertisers to determine how many of the people who clicked their ads actually went ahead and bought something on their site, or signed up for a newsletter, or performed the action for which they were advertising in the first place.

	What is ROI Tracking

ROI is marketing speak for profit. It actually stands for Return on Investment i.e. how much profit did the advertisers make on the leads that you sent to them.

	Why you need to care

Savvy marketers are really interested in these two metrics because it helps them determine which sales channels are working.

If you don't provide access to this information, how are you going to make a case for them to spend even more money advertising with you.

If their campaign works and they are hitting their targets, it's a no brainer – they are going to increase their ad spend with you.

On the flip side, if their entire campaign isn't performing well, then they can use the tools within Trafficspaces to determine which ads aren't working and which targeting rules work better.

	How does it work

	It is pretty straightforward.

For each campaign, advertisers can generate a tracking code, which should be added to the page that appears immediately after the intended action by the lead e.g. a signup or purchase completion page.

Trafficspaces handles the rest. Through the Campaign Dashboard, they'll be able to track everything from those who saw their ads, those who clicked, those who went all the way and how profitable their campaign was. Superb stuff.

We are quite proud of these two new features. Try it out in the demo in the Manage Campaigns section. Let us know what you think in the comments.

The product you are selling is your traffic so clearly, you need to describe it.

If you were buying a book on Amazon, you'll want see the full description, picture of the cover, reviews from other readers, and perhaps even browse through a few pages of the book.

Unfortunately, your traffic is not a book so you really can't show a picture of your audience. Well you could, I guess, but I’m not sure how effective that’ll be. However, what you can do is describe it through analytics.

By analytics, I’m not referring to all the bells and whistles site analytics you get on Google Analytics, Statcounter etc. I’m referring to just the stuff that matters to advertisers i.e. the metrics that describe who your audience is.

As explained in the "Have an outstanding product to sell" article, it is important to segment your audience and show advertisers the niches that advertisers can target.

Quick example – as an advertiser, I'll like to know how much of your traffic is relevant to me. Simply saying "I have 10 million hits" is not good enough.

If I run a restaurant in Downtown Boston, I'll probably be mainly concerned about the traffic in Boston, not Venice Beach, LA or in London or Bombay. You get the point.

How to segment your traffic

It is even way more valuable if you can segment your audience by their demographic makeup, or by their interests like Facebook does.

At the very least, start by showing advertisers where your audience come from. Show them the impressions, unique visitors and average time spent.

If you can show this information across all the niches, then you are onto a winner. Naturally, you’ll probably need some software to work out this information for you.

That’s where a good self-service system comes in. Ideally, your advertisers should be able to specify their preferences and see only the analytics that they care about. You can also include the metrics in a media kit but nothing beats interactive analytics.

One last thing, it is very important to let advertisers know the source of the data. It helps to give your stats legitimacy. Anyone can make up numbers and say "yeah, I do 5mm US uniques a month" but when it is reported by a 3rd party, then it feels legit.

It is similar to how the reviews on Amazon help you decide whether you should buy the book or not.

Action Points

Get an analytics solution that can do this for you. It is even better if the analytics come with your ad server.
